Following the Tendering Opportunity which was advertised in July, a contract to install additional Solar PV Panels at Freeman Street Market, with a generating capacity of 97.58kWp, and estimated annual output of 79,664kWh, was awarded to Amelio Solar Energy who are based in Lincoln. The works have recently been completed and the “free” electricity is already flowing.
In addition to our efforts to revitalise Freeman Street through regeneration our business is also passionate about the environment! We have taken steps to reduce our energy consumption, lowering our carbon emissions for our beloved local community. As a business we have previously invested in Solar PV systems. These are making a huge difference to the environment and this is just the start of our sustainable journey. We have been recognised for the initiatives we have taken and have won awards at local and national levels.
Our previous installations were made at a time when Feed-in-Tariffs (FIT’s) were on offer as Government incentives but these are no longer available. To help us invest in these energy saving measures this time we have had support from Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire. Through this we have received a grant of £25,625.68 (38% of the total cost) to enable us to make these fantastic changes.
The £8.5 million Smart Energy programme has been part funded by the European Regional Development fund. This is enabling small to medium businesses across the Greater Lincolnshire area to invest in energy saving technology.
